Summary

This book is completely devoted to what you, the public, are asking for - super-quick, tasty, nutritious food that you can eat every day of the week。

Creating these recipes has been a whole new experience for me, and I've made sure they're methodical, clever, sociable and fun, with beautiful ingredients that will slap you around the face with big flavours! I'll probably never write a cookbook like this again, but I can assure you this is a classic that will arm you with the skills to create wonderful meals, shockingly fast。

I've taken inspiration from around the world, embracing the flavours that we all love, playing with classic chicken, steak and pasta dishes, looking at Asian-inspired street food and brilliant Moroccan flavours, bigging up mega salads and so much more。 I'm basically trying to represent all the types of food that you, out there, are buying into。 And these are some of the quickest and easiest meals I've ever done。

These recipes have been tested and tested to ensure this book is a reliable companion for you, and hopefully your family too when you pass it down。 I think you're going to really love it - I'm so proud of it。

It's far and away the most balanced and exciting everyday cookbook I've seen - and if you liked 30-Minute Meals, this will knock your socks off。

There is no doubt that Jamie Oliver presents delicious-looking food in this beautiful book with its full-page illustrations of each recipe。 However, I think the '15 minute meal' title sets up expectations which aren't met (not for me, anyway!)。 I got the impression from the title that these meals would be quick and easy, using ingredients I would be likely to have in my pantry。 However, at the outset Oliver makes it very clear that you won't be able to cook any of these meals in 15 minutes unles There is no doubt that Jamie Oliver presents delicious-looking food in this beautiful book with its full-page illustrations of each recipe。 However, I think the '15 minute meal' title sets up expectations which aren't met (not for me, anyway!)。 I got the impression from the title that these meals would be quick and easy, using ingredients I would be likely to have in my pantry。 However, at the outset Oliver makes it very clear that you won't be able to cook any of these meals in 15 minutes unless you own a food processor, liquidiser, and some other items I don't own and don't plan to buy, which I've therefore already forgotten。 The ingredients of the recipes are also unlikely to grace my fridge or pantry - not your everyday mushrooms but porcini or oyster mushrooms, not your everyday herbs, spices, and oils but harissa, saffron, and truffle oil, etc etc。 He also uses a lot of chillies which my palate can't handle。 That would be okay though because I could usually just adapt a recipe to my needs。 However, the way the recipes are presented makes that quite difficult。 There are a number of recipes (which are 'meal' recipes, so contain a main and side dishes) where I'd like to just make the side dishes。 However, the ingredients list for the different dishes at the side are sometimes missing some of the ingredients, which you can only learn about by reading the instructions, and a big problem is that the instructions mingle the cooking of all the dishes, instead of presenting instructions for cooking each dish。 I'm assuming Oliver did this with the aim of encouraging people to multitask to make the meal prep quicker, but it certainly makes it difficult to pick and choose which dishes you'd like to make out of his overall meal。 。。。more

At least 1hour meals, not 15min! The instructions are all over the place and very hard to follow。 A lot of ingredients and a lot of them are quite unusual and expensive。 Tried about 10 recipes。 A couple of them were very tasty, the rest were meh。

I liked the recipes but there is a heavy use of asparagus。 But, they can be subbed。

This is a great companion book to the series of the same name。 What I always love about Jamie Oliver is that his recipes actually work for real people like me。 I've made several of these ones and they were all terrific。 This is a great companion book to the series of the same name。 What I always love about Jamie Oliver is that his recipes actually work for real people like me。 I've made several of these ones and they were all terrific。 。。。more

I watch a lot of cooks cook。 But when he come on he totally disgust me with the way he handles food! He just incorporate food like a 4 year old kid and very sloppy with food and all and all gross! No technique!

My favourites include the pasta chicken Cacciatore, the chicken tikka salad, the pork belly taco's, the crispy duck salad boats, beef chimichurri, lamb meat balls, as well as ths lamb kofte, the Asian fish and miso noodles, the Salmon in green tea with coconut rice, the falafel wraps, the modern Greek salad, chorizo & squid。。。actually I could go on for a while。 Why don't you try them yourself? Happy cooking! 。。。more

Overall Conclusion: With a bit of creative layout & graphic design, these recipes could have been made so much more streamlined, clear & effortless to read。 As it was, they were annoyingly, confusingly written! We had a couple weeks of good dinners and leftovers, but ‘15 minutes’ my arse! (Really, we like you, Jamie, it’s a nice form of therapy to get the day’s frustrations out by shouting at your recipes, and then sitting down to eat their delicious results!)Read on if you want to be bored to tears by what may have turned into a bit of a longwinded recipe diary。 (Clearly I have too much time on my hands。。。)Librarian checking out the book for me said, “it’s a lie you know, you can’t make these in 15 minutes unless someone has chopped & prepped everything” This was some accurate foreshadowing。 Grocery shopping: it took me more than 15 minutes to find the flippin’ fenugreek seeds, Jamie。 Looked for cress for ages - empty shelf, store was out。 No coriander either。 Maybe this is Sainsbury’s fault and not Jamie’s。 Maybe。Meal 1: Daal Curry p。 240。 I didn’t use a food processor because I didn’t want to have to clean the food processor (pretty sure cleaning time not included in the 15 mins。) I put all the mustard seeds in the daal, as they were all listed in that ingredient list。 Later realised 1/2 should have gone in salad。 (Garlic, however, was listed separately on each ingredient list。) Oops。 Then we put the whole lemon in the salad frying pan。 Whoops again。 For all that you’re supposed to be able to make these recipes in the blink of an eye, the ingredient lists and instructions are haphazard & difficult to follow quickly。 Dish looks great, & tastes ok。 Meal 2: Blackened chicken & san fran quinoa salad p。 46 I obeyed Jamie today & broke out the food processor。 instructions still a bit of a guddle, but this meal was delicious。 It did take a lot more than 15 mins to make though! Meal 3: Fettuccine, smoked trout, asparagus & peas。 Pg。 188。 Took longer than 15 minutes, as usual, and didn’t even bother with the blitzing-with-a-hand-blender step, will leave my peas whole, thanks, Jamie。 Also, recipe not clear that asparagus tips to be kept out until (theoretical) blending done。 Lemon also listed under salad ingredients, but is apparently to go in pasta dish。。。 did any normal people proof read or test these recipes? Starting to enjoy the evening tradition of slagging off Jamie throughout dinner prep though; dish was very tasty once completed! Meal 4: Pasta Pesto, Garlic & rosemary Chicken pg。 172Ok, week 2, here we go again。 This recipe sounds delicious。 But Jamie’s already pesto’ing me off: I’m supposed to add ‘lemon juice’ 。。。 look at ingredients list and there is ‘1 lemon’ — I’m a bit gun-shy here, as we’ve made this mistake before — you gonna tell me how much of that lemon to put in the pesto or not? Because I know if I put it all in, you’re going to say in the next paragraph ‘and use the 1/2 of the lemon you saved’ *$&^^%^Q。 OK, I see no further mention of said lemon, having read the recipe twice through, nor is there mention of zest。 Having completed this forensic lemon analysis, I am now prepared to argue that, with the evidence available and through several intuitive leaps of judgement, that I should use the juice of 1 whole lemon in the pesto。 PS。 I only used 1/2 the lemon。 I don’t trust the rest of this week’s recipes not to spring a lemon on me in bitter vengeance。 PPS。 lasagna sheets sticking together in the pan so i tried to yank chunks of them out and peel them apart from each other as they were cooking (YES,i added some olive oil, no the pan was not quite big enough) necessitated drinking some wine with dinner after that stress。PPPS。 It was delicious。 However, when my husband asked “was there lemon in this; i couldn’t really taste it?” I may have gone on a wine-and-pesto-fueled rant ending in “F-you jamie and your f-ing gormless smile” (on the cover of the book)。 Even though the lemon-incident may have been my fault。 Maybe。Meal 5: Spiced chicken bacon spinach lentils & asparagus pg。 52Chicken was good; usual recipe confusion, etc, etc。 Wasn’t sure what Jamie wanted me to do with the chicken while the bacon & asparagus were cooking。。。 took the initiative and warmed it in the oven。 Totally forgot to add the red wine vinegar。 Meal 6: Veggie Chilli p。 224 husband made this so i missed out on a night of Jamie-complaining, but he (husband, not jamie) related his tale of how the recipe was utterly unclear on where a chili should go - the salad? The dressing? The chilli? It was yummy though。 。。。more

Still a great thing)- number of portions for each recipe isn't indicated in the recipe itself but I'm presuming four。 If you only need to cook two portions halving the recipe is feasible but doesn't mean that you'll get the same results。- unfortunately there is no nutritional information available。 While there are a number of cookbooks that don't provide it either, it does help a lot - especially if you're watching calories or things like sodium levels。 Do read and pay close attention to the forward in regards to equipment needed and supplies to have on hand。 As noted above you need to have everything ready and quickly accessible prior to making the meal so the meal can go from stove to table quickly。 Give this one a try。 Even if you don't follow the recipes exactly it will provide ideas and inspiration。 。。。more

Great cookbook especially for busy families。 We were apprehensive at first as to whether the recipes would only take 15 minutes but we have found that they do in fact usually only take around 15 minutes from start to finish including all of the prep。 This cookbook is really saving us time and money as we can throw a well balanced, healthy, flavourful meal together in less time than it would take us to go out and grab something already made。 The nice thing is that since the meals are quick to mak Great cookbook especially for busy families。 We were apprehensive at first as to whether the recipes would only take 15 minutes but we have found that they do in fact usually only take around 15 minutes from start to finish including all of the prep。 This cookbook is really saving us time and money as we can throw a well balanced, healthy, flavourful meal together in less time than it would take us to go out and grab something already made。 The nice thing is that since the meals are quick to make my husband has finally started joining me in the kitchen to help with these meals。 We have tried 6 recipes so far and they have all been a hit with our kids。 While he adds chilli peppers in most recipes it really is only for flavour and we have found nothing to be overly spicy (I have kids who have recently decided they don't like spice at all and they haven't said a word about any of the meals)。 I do like that there are lots of veg in the meals and generally these meals are very cost effective。 There are a few items you may not regularly stock in your pantry, but once you pick up a package of these items they will last you for quite a few recipes。 。。。more

I have always liked Jamie Oliver's philosophy on food and eating as well as his style of cooking all the way back when he got his first tv show (you know, back when cooking shows were actually COOKING shows, and not this reality show nonsense that they call cooking shows these days)。 I've been systematically collecting his cookbooks, and this is the latest addition。What I liked:* Pictures for every recipe in the book。。。 (I don't know what other cookbook publishers were thinking when they only ha I have always liked Jamie Oliver's philosophy on food and eating as well as his style of cooking all the way back when he got his first tv show (you know, back when cooking shows were actually COOKING shows, and not this reality show nonsense that they call cooking shows these days)。 I've been systematically collecting his cookbooks, and this is the latest addition。What I liked:* Pictures for every recipe in the book。。。 (I don't know what other cookbook publishers were thinking when they only have pictures for every second or third recipe。。。 I freely admit, half the time I choose a recipe to try, it's based on how the food LOOKS, not the recipe itself。)* Quick recipes (Yes, that's the gist of the book, but as much as I like to cook, I'm a little lazy too, and if it takes longer to make than popping a frozen pizza in the oven, I tend to lean heavily on the pizza。。。)* Variety (Sure, that means there's lots of stuff I won't touch, BUT there's also a lot I will。。。)What I didn't like:* There wasn't a lot of variety within each section as far as the cuts of meat go。 Almost all the beef recipes were steaks of some sort, and all the ground beef was a burger。。。 I know you're not going to be able to bang out a stew or some such in 15 minutes, but surely there's more you can do than grill a steak。 Same with the chicken recipes, it was all breast meat。 There was TONS of variety in the fish section。。。 too bad I don't like fish much, and my local grocery stores pretty much just stock salmon, trout, and maybe tilapia fresh (sure, there's more in the frozen aisle, but the time to thaw。。。)* the sides were all the same (minus the dressing up)。 I would have loved more variations on mashed potatoes, more than just plain rice with stuff tossed in, and almost every single recipe with beans it was lentils (ick)。 Or he went with a standby boring salad。* Similar to the first point, there also wasn't a huge variety in the veggie department。 Not once did kale or chard or leaks or bok choy or a hundred other veggies you see at the store make an appearance (and they take seconds to cook, so what's up with that?)。 Similarly, other veggies like corn or beans (green or yellow, take your pick), cauliflower, or peppers of any type, heck, even regular cooking onions were noticeably scarce。 If you like broccoli or lettuce or cabbage, you're golden (I do, but not in every meal)。 * The breakfast section was, well, lacking to the point I wondered why it was even included at all。Was I disappointed in this book? No, not really。 I'll try a bunch of the recipes。 I just expected a whole lot more from it。 。。。more

I've cooked several of the meals in this book (and plan to cook many more), all were fairly simple, seem nutritious, were amply sized, and ranged from quite yummy to among the most delicious things I've ever made! The 15-minute meal method (involving making the main and several sides at the same time) takes some getting used to, the first time you make one of these meals it will probably take an hour, but after you get used to cooking this way you can make many of the meals in 30mins。Jamie is a f I've cooked several of the meals in this book (and plan to cook many more), all were fairly simple, seem nutritious, were amply sized, and ranged from quite yummy to among the most delicious things I've ever made! The 15-minute meal method (involving making the main and several sides at the same time) takes some getting used to, the first time you make one of these meals it will probably take an hour, but after you get used to cooking this way you can make many of the meals in 30mins。Jamie is a fan of the old-school food pyramid, so his meals are heavy on carbs and light on meat (there's a whole chapter of - ick - vegetarian meals), but it's easy to adjust the proportions and/or substitute cauliflower rice for rice and zoodles for noodles if you prefer to eat less carbs。Despite how much I like this book, I have to say that I don't think it achieves its aim - Jamie wants people to eat these meals instead of take-out, but I don't see that happening, not because they take 30mins rather than 15, but because they involve lots of dishwashing and lots of shopping for their many ingredients, and because (for a person used to eating take-out and frozen meals) they feel far too fancy to be everyday food。 。。。more

Whilst I really like Jamie Oliver and his 15 minute meals show, this book requires a lot of ingredients not found in the average store cupboard。 Being a student/ someone on a tight budget it's not really worth buying most of these ingredients。 It has however inspired me to make my own versions of some of the dishes。 It's also handy as it breaks the mains and sides up in each recipe, so you can mix and match and create new meals。 Whilst I really like Jamie Oliver and his 15 minute meals show, this book requires a lot of ingredients not found in the average store cupboard。 Being a student/ someone on a tight budget it's not really worth buying most of these ingredients。 It has however inspired me to make my own versions of some of the dishes。 It's also handy as it breaks the mains and sides up in each recipe, so you can mix and match and create new meals。 。。。more
